Red wine sangria

This is a traditional recipe for red wine sangria, and we want to share with you. As all the world know, sangria is one of the most popular drinks in Spain in summer time. There is no thing better than take a moment of rest and enjoy a red wine sangria in a hot summer day, with a lot of ice and with the company of your beloved friends or family.

Red wine sangria is the kind of drink perfect for family gatherings, parties, and it is very quickly and easy to prepare. We can, also, made it a day in advance.

All we need is a dry red wine, some fresh fruits, your favorite brandy or liqueur and some sparkling water. Simple no? We need also about 10 minutes until this colorful and beautiful drink is done. We think is better to let chill for at least four hours, so flavors, juices, aroma and sweetness combine in a perfect way. That’s the way we made a perfect red wine sangria.

Ingredients for red wine sangria (about 4 servings)

  • One bottle (750ml) dry red wine, like Rioja, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 1/2 cup brandy or your favorite liqueur
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • Two tablespoon sugar
  • One orange
  • One lemon
  • One apple
  • One cup sparkling water
  • Ice cubes for serving

Directions for red wine sangria

Squeeze the orange juice into a big recipient. Cut the apple, lemon and orange into thin slices. Transfer this fruits into the pitcher. Add orange juice, sugar and red wine over the fruits. Stir to combine and now add your favourite brandy or liqueur and stir again to combine. Now it is time to cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.

It is important, before serving pour the sparkling water and serve in glasses filled with a lot of ice and fruits.
